Tivix and the World Food Program
When Sumit and I founded Tivix five years ago, our original vision was to create a set of software products for nonprofits and NGO’s. Over time, our business morphed into providing consulting services to organizations of all types.
But we love it when we get to connect with our roots, so we were very gratified today to receive notification that Tivix has been selected by the United Nations to do software development for the World Food Program (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger. WFP is headquartered in Rome and reaches more than 90 million people with food assistance in 80 countries each year.
The WFP originally contacted us because of our expertise doing software development with the Django/Python framework and Django’s reputation for being a solid technology platform for reliable, scalable software applications. The WFP needs to connect their 12,000 users operating from 410 locations globally, and Tivix has deep experience using Django to create complex learning and collaboration platforms.
We’re honored to have been selected by the United Nations’ World Food Program, and love the fact that – in addition to serving global brands and Silicon Valley startups – we once again have the opportunity to return to our original roots in developing software which helps to make the world a better place.
